The EEV P8079HP & P8079 tubes were manufactured by the English Electric Valve Company in England, they were regarded as cutting edge Generation 1 cascade tubes that produced a massive 125,000 light gain, this was acheived by coupling 3 Gen 1 inverter tubes in series. These tubes are well sought after by DIY night vision enthusiasts and astronomers, they don't just offer a bang for your buck they offer a collosal bang for your buck, when properly built they will make 'digital' night vision look like a childs toy.
